Concertagenda Curiosity Shop

About Curiosity Shop
"Honey-sweet,” that’s how a fan once described the music of the five-piece Curiosity Shop. Rooted in storytelling and rich with references to nature, their songs blend close-knit vocal harmonies with influences from folk, jazz, indie and traditional Scottish music; the result is a warm, narrative and emotional sound that lingers in the memory long after the final note has ended. At the heart of the band lies the strong songwriting — and deft banjo playing — of Ru Wallace and Sonny Scott, while Duncan Biggar and Louis Taige form an organic rhythm section that provides a solid backbone. Completing the sonic picture is multi-instrumentalist Yann McAuley, whose flute, accordion and harmonium weave lush melodic lines that nestle effortlessly in the listener’s ear.
Though all still in their early twenties, the Scottish five-member band has quickly built a formidable live reputation at home, where the band's performances are highly praised for their sheer intensity. What truly sets them apart is their genuine sense of collectivity: Curiosity Shop is not a frontman-driven project, but a true ensemble — where vocals and instruments interplay in a constant dialogue. Their songs unfold slowly yet purposefully, inviting attentive listening or perhaps to simply drift away into dreamland. Perfect for Gent Jazz.
