Concertagenda Empty Apartments

Guitarist and producer Jolan Decaestecker has already performed at Gent Jazz with the fantastic Ão but, this year, he returns with his solo project: Empty Apartments. In doing so, Decaestecker tries to explore how to strip ambient music of its 'background music’ reputation. With minimalist interventions via tape loops, edited iPhone recordings, soundscapes, morose beats and even Google Translate choruses, he tries to capture the listener's full attention without being intrusive. It leads to impressive musical compositions that also feel very visual. This clear multi-layered character has earned him a few interesting collaborations. He has already worked with multidisciplinary artists such as Benjamin Verdonck, Hendrik Lasure and pedigree musicians such as Rudy Trouvé. Live, he dives into a full sensory experience and our best advice is to just go with it. Don’t resist, embrace.
