Concertagenda Madeleine Peyroux

About Madeleine Peyroux
Madeleine Peyroux was born in America and began her career in the streets of Paris’ Latin Quarter, where she stood out among the many street artists with her unique mix of jazz, blues and folk. So, what made her so special? Her stunning Billie Holiday inspired voice, her subtle phrasing and her melancholy interpretations of jazz classics. Since her breakthrough in 1996 with the album 'Dreamland’, she has built a career that has combined huge respect for the jazz legacy with a quest for innovation. On albums like 'Careless Love’ and 'Anthem’, Peyroux gives jazz and blues a contemporary twist with interpretations of hits by Dylan, Cohen or Elliot Smith but also adds her own compositions in which refined arrangements and emotional texts beautifully showcase her melancholy voice. Last year’s release 'Let’s Walk’ is her most self-assured work; ten songs that balance jazz, folk and pop with a profoundly personal but also social perspective. Intimate clubs or huge festivals such as Gent Jazz, it makes no difference to Peyroux. Her intense live shows will captivate everyone.
