We Want Miles! MARCUS MILLER’s Tribute to Miles Davis: A 100th Anniversary Celebration

For his performance on 10 July, Marcus Miller has assembled an explosive group, including the original members of Miles Davis’s 1980s comeback band, featuring Marcus Miller on the electric bass, Mike Stern on the guitar, Bill Evans on the saxophone, and Mino Cinelu on percussion.

Talented trumpet player Russell Gunn, who has toured with Marcus Miller these past ten years, will perform his unique interpretations of Davis’s music. The We Want Miles! project features a curated selection from the iconic 1981 We Want Miles! live recording in Japan, along with classic compositions from Miles’s celebrated catalogue spanning the 1950s and 60s right up to Tutu in 1986 and Amandla in 1989, both of which Marcus Miller composed and produced. The band will play classics from Davis’s career, along with fresh interpretations that show how his spirit of innovation continues to live on.
