Four years ago, An Pierlé presented her Quartet to the world with 'Wiga Wiga’. Pierlé then had nothing left to prove but nevertheless wanted to surprise. The record that was released in 2025 by W.E.R.F. records encompassed deeper grooves than its predecessor, more confrontational lyrics and a wisdom and urgency that could only come from a survivor. With an all-star line-up - keyboard player Hendrik Lasure, drummer Casper Van de Velde (together known as Schntzl) and producer-reed player Koen Gisen - the quartet has created an album that brims with jazz influences but also bridges the gap to the avant-garde such as David Bowie, who did a similar thing on his final album 'Blackstar’.
