Brahja Trio , Th 02.07.2026, Gent Jazz Gent

Brahja is a New York-based jazz ensemble led by saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Devin Brahja Waldman. The band takes on various forms—from sextet to trio—and is known for its adventurous, spiritual approach to jazz. For the European tour in November 2025, Brahja performed as a trio, and featured Georgia Wartel Collins on double bass and Joakim Heibø Johansen on drums. 

To date, Brahja has released eight albums, including Watermelancholia on the Belgian label Cortizona, and the self-titled Brahja on Estonia’s RR GEMS. Over the years, Waldman has collaborated with an impressive range of artists, including Patti Smith, Thurston Moore, William Parker, Anne Waldman, Lydia Lunch and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

His music is described as intense, mesmerising, and full of life, a unique fusion of jazz, poetry, and experimentation, deeply rooted in tradition yet always reaching out to the future
