With 'Silently Held’, Chantal Acda investigates the quiet, often hidden side to all people: the side where doubt and anxiety reign supreme but where desire and hope also reside. Together with an impressive new ensemble comprising Eric Thielemans (drums), Hendrik Lasure (piano), Frederik Madou (double bass), Frans van Isacker (saxophone) and Niels van Heertum (euphonium), Acda creates a warm soundscape in which vulnerability and imperfection are not eliminated but, rather, cherished. Earlier albums such as 'Let Your Hands Be My Guide’ and 'Saturday Moon’, were critically acclaimed worldwide for Acda's intuitive style in which folk, jazz and ambient are beautifully intertwined. 'Silently Held’ follows the same line but also sounds like a gentle embrace and a powerful release, an intimate invitation to unite with everything that makes us human.
