Concertagenda Ibibio Sound Machine

Imagine you are in a swirling nightclub where afrobeat, funk, post-punk, electronica and house pulsate out of the speakers and the nights go on endlessly. The house-band in the club would be Ibibio Sound Machine in the year 2025. The collective has always focused on pure joie de vivre but, on their latest album 'Pull The Rope’, produced by Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A.), they sound even rougher, sleeker and more urgent than ever. Front-woman Eno Williams and her pumping rhythm section combine the spiritual power of her Nigerian roots with the all-encompassing energy of Western clubbing culture. The main aim? Dancing. As if your life depends on it. Dancing as a protest, as a catharsis, as a connection. Or, as they would say: bringing hope into the darkness.
