About Ink Ognito
Ink Ognito (born 1934, Sevilla, Spain) is an expressionist painter who’s art was banned during the dictator Franco regime in spain’s 60’s and 70’s. To make a living, he became a normal facade painter, mostly factory walls. After falling from a ladder in 1979, he suffered a major brain injury, losing his touch with modern reality, and also his ability to see colors, leaving only black and white. From this moment on, he got obsessed with the music from his childhood, mainly The Ink Spots repertoire. He learned how to play guitar primitively, and started to sing his favourite music, while only painting black abstract spots. Recently discovered by two local jazz musicians, an excellent guitar and an upright bass player from his region, he now sometimes gives live performances, but refuses to record his music. Actually, he refuses modern media and all means of communication. But seeing Ognito live at Gent Jazz is an experience you’ll never forget…
