About KAMEEL
KAMEEL is a high-energy trio from Belgium — Patrick Steenaerts (guitar), Hans Mullens (bass) and Geert Roelofs (drums) — who blend jazz, rock, electronica and improvisation into a cinematic and unpredictable sound. Their music is at once dark, groovy, raw and free: jazz for punks, danceable and compelling, yet always uncompromising. Rudy Trouvé will be joining them for Gent Jazz!
Following the highly acclaimed albums Barkas (2020) and Trugschluss (2023), which received rave reviews in the Belgian and Dutch press and sold well on vinyl and CD, their third album was released in 2025 via Pang Pang Records. Vocals feature for the first time, with contributions from Rudy Trouvé and Tim Vanhamel. The album was recorded with Joris Caluwaerts (STUFF.) and preceded by the single 'Variomatic’, once again accompanied by a memorable video by Raf Wathion.
Live, KAMEEL have already made their mark at venues such as Trix, Handelsbeurs, STUK, N9, KAAP, Hnita Jazz Club and at festivals like Jazz Cats. Their latest 7” 'Getting Cosy With Steve?’ (feat. Steve Ignorant of CRASS) received airplay on Willy, and earned the band notable cult status.
KAMEEL sounds dark, cinematic and menacing, yet simultaneously irresistibly groovy and free. A musical storm with no intention of abating.
