Greek pianist and composer Tania Giannouli creates music that is unfettered by boundaries and genres. Jazz, classical tradition and world music blend together in an organic style where improvisation is the starting point. After studying classic piano and composition, they developed into an international name, with releases on the famous Rattle Records and an invitation from Nils Frahm to contribute to 'Piano Day Vol. 3’. After collaborations with stars such as Nils Petter Molvaer, Nik Bärtsch and Amir ElSaffar, Giannouli will perform at Gent Jazz in an intimate trio with Kyriakos Tapakis (oud - a Middle Eastern lute) and Jakob Bänsch (trumpet): three voices which, together, create a new, poetic and challenging musical universe.
