About Yasmine Hamdan
The Lebanese artist Yasmine Hamdan, acclaimed for her unique fusion of Arabic sounds and Western electronica, presented her long-awaited new album "I Remember I Forget" live to a Belgian audience on 24 February at a packed Ha Concerts venue. Fans were treated to a thrilling live show full of mysticism, emotion and rhythm, carried by a voice that sounds both traditional and elusive modern.
Yasmine Hamdan made her breakthrough with the duo Soapkills and has since collaborated with top international producers such as Mirwais (Madonna) and Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague). Her music is as much a tribute to the rich Arab vocal tradition as it is a fresh reinvention of it. Drawing on influences from pop, folk and electronica, she creates a timeless, boundary-crossing sound that has made her a fixture at festivals such as Glastonbury, Meltdown and Sziget.
Following the albums Ya Nass and Al Jamilat, both of which received worldwide acclaim and airplay from the BBC to NPR, Hamdan returns with I Remember I Forget - an intimate, powerful record brimming with melancholy, rebellion and feminine strength. Live, her work translates into a compelling experience where music, language and atmosphere merge into a hypnotic whole.
