Brian Cox is een Britse natuurkundige en hoogleraar in Manchester. Hij verwierf internationale bekendheid door zijn werk bij CERN (the European Organization of Nuclear Research) en zijn populaire tv-documentaires, waaronder 'Wonders of the Universe’. De voorbije 15 jaar werkte hij mee aan vele toonaangevende wetenschapsprogramma’s voor BBC-radio en -televisie, van het met een Peabody Award bekroonde 'Wonders of the Solar System’ (momenteel te zien op Canvas) tot de wereldwijde hitserie 'The Planets’.

In Brussel presenteert Cox 'Emergence’: een meeslepende reis door 400 jaar wetenschappelijke ontdekkingen. Hoe is het mogelijk dat een soort mensapen van een kwart miljoen jaar oud, levend op een kleine planeet rond een doorsneester, zoveel heeft kunnen leren over de kosmos?
