About Yasmine Hamdan
With her distinctive fusion of Arabic vocals, Western pop and electronic music, Yasmine Hamdan has become a cult figure in the Middle East. Her journey began in the late 1990s as part of Soapkills, a pioneering electro duo from Beirut.
She then released solo albums and collaborated with renowned producers such as Mirwais (who worked with Madonna) and Marc Collin (of Nouvelle Vague), earning her international recognition through films by Jim Jarmusch and others, including Only Lovers Left Alive. In 2025, she released her new album, I Remember I Forget.
Cosmopolitan spirit
Although she lives and works in Paris, Yasmine Hamdan's work exudes a cosmopolitan spirit. She combines traditional Arabic vocal lines with a contemporary sound palette of electronica, folk, and soul.
This idiosyncratic approach has earned her praise from publications such as The Guardian, NPR, Rolling Stone and the BBC. She has already performed live at renowned venues such as Glastonbury, the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall
